Now Canon has introduced its 4K (8.8Megapixel videoframes) camera.
The question will be: How long before photography is a dead horse?

Video cameras make stills and stills cameras make video - but the two are still different disciplines with different needs. The best way to capture a specific still image for an advertising shoot will still be to compose it, light it and shoot it as a photo. The angles etc that make for great video don't necessarily make for great photos and visa versa.

So, yes, people will be using still cameras to take video and video cameras to take stills - in fact they already are. But the nature of the two disciplines is different and will still require a different approach.
