D800 AF failure

Unlike previous posts on loss of AF in sectors with wide angle, my new d800 would not focus on subject. It would search in and out but never find its subject. This occurred regardless of AF mode. In auto AF it did not even seek a focal point. In dynamic AF, no points displayed except for a central point. This was lens independent, using a 17-35 f2.8, and 70-200 f2.8 VRII. SN 5000xxx. Wondered if others saw this or just happened to get a lemon. I'm disappointed needless to say, was looking forward to putting it through its paces, now waiting what could be weeks for a replacement.
