I find the 5dII center point focus to be very accurate and consistent. I use it about exclusively when shooting the 50L at F1.2 to F1.8, and about 80% of the time at F2.

See:

At aperatures of F2.8 and larger, I am usually using using the outer most two points. I have experienced no focus shift issues using this approach.

My 50L works perfectly using the 5D2's centre point. It gets a bit dodgy on the outer points, but I don't think that's a problem with the lens - more the body. I also use the 50L on my 1Ds3 and it works quickly and accurately on all the cross-points. It's my most reliable lens.
