Who does the printing for a gallery show?

When a photographer gets selected to have a show (by gallery or however), who does the printing? I would imagine the photog would do all the post-processing to get the basic image where he/she wanted it. But who then does the printing?

I've been stunned and inspired by the work of Nick Brandt ( http://www.nickbrandt.com ) who is currently having a show in NYC, hosted by a gallery. I know he did his own PS work, but for such large images it might be impractical to do the prints yourself.

Actually this is a side-effect of my wondering just how useful it is these days, to do one's own printing. I do have a 3800 but thinking of selling it and just farming out any print work... It feels like self printing is something for very well-off hobbyists.
