Sorry about that, it's a 17-35 Wide Zoom. Looks like the typical focus motor issues. I'm trying to figure out if the repair will cost more than the lens!?

No, it won't cost nearly as much as the lens new, or even a good used one would cost. I recently had a Nikon 28-70/2.8 AF-S D repaired for a failed focus motor. While at Nikon they also replaced the well-worn lens mount and serviced the zoom mechanism. Total charge was $350.

I had the motor replaced on my 17-35 f/2.8 replaced last year under warranty. Squeaking in the last 6 months. From start to finish it took 13 days. They also cleaned and calibrated it. Works better now than when new. Nothing to complain about.
