Minimalist Carrying Strap options for X-Pro 1

Been considering a more minimalist carrying strap option like the Street Strap.

But $70 seems pretty steep price for what is essentially a thick shoelace with triangular rings on the end. Perhaps I should experiment with paracord and different multifilament nylon cable wrap I have lying around.

Anyone have experience with the Street Strap? Does it stay put when carrying it over the shoulder style with the camera to your side, under the arm? Or does it swing around too easily, since the material is really not that grippy likely?

The stock shoulder strap is too stiff, and man I hate the smell of it. I suppose it would be nice to have a very thin, soft, and flexible suede leather strap. Not a fan of stiff belt leather / purse like straps.
