after all the great suggestions... this is what i offered the artist...
processed full-res image(s); rights to use for his personal advertisement and promotion.
1-5 images = $20.00 / image
6-10 images = $15.00 / image
11 or more = $10.00 / image
NOT FOR MAJOR ADVERTISING... he has to contact me for my terms...
this is the first time i have offered this kind of deal...
i have gotten/offered flat rate fee before and i have no complaints really ($200 for 3-hrs shoot)...
thanks guys for sharing your thoughts...

OMG!! even though it sounds funny (CDs are a dying breed thanks to iTunes.)
this is so true!!
looks like the FLAT FEE is the way to go... i really can't demand something really big... if i make this Jazz Saxophonist happy... hopefully this will lead to more flat fee business within his circle of friends...
THANKS SO MUCH for your great advise and opinion...

Smaller record labels like Domo or Curb Records usually pays a photographer one flat fee. I have shot a few covers for mid-level groups and the record company paid my fees. I have never dealt with the singer/band themselves unless they were producing their own CDs.
CDs are a dying breed thanks to iTunes.
