One can easily note how the sales of "non-reflex" interchangeable-lens cameras are eating into the share of total sales of SLRs in all markets.

The most remarkable side of this report: Japan; where in the last three months the mirrorless sold as much as the SLRs!..

Was this something you expected?

Interesting statistics, although even more interesting that it reflects the time when mirrorless did not even try to compete with DSLRs, aiming more at novice users requiring higher image quality. What will happen now with availability of Sony NEX-7, Olympus OM-D E-M5 and Pentax K-01 which outperform all entry-to-mid level DSLRs out there, both in terms of IQ and advanced user experience? With higher-performing bodies coming from Panasonic (although DH2 is pretty cool already) and potentially Samsung and Fujitsu filling out their systems with proper lenses? Looks like everybody by now feels the blood in the water, except CaNikon who try to protect their DSLR business releasing what looks like artificially crippled cameras.
