They both are good cameras. K5 body is more compact and has in body image stabilization. D7000 has better AF system and AF for movie. Pentax lens system advantage is their small primes while Nikon has more lens selections . Nikon also has better flash system than pentax. You can't go wrong with either cameras. If you like to shoot in primes and travel light, then K-5 is a good choice for you. If you want more lens selections and need a good flash system then you should go with D7000.
