Hi there,
The white spot is indeed an oil spot.
The only way to get it out is by cleaning out the sensor.
With the appropriate tools you can DIY.

I'd prefer sending it to Canon. Also your local camera shop can also help. It should not cost you over 45$
It's good to be big, but it's bigger to be good.
