D800 focus issues: Return, or repair?

1. I shouldn't have to waste countless hours being Nikon's QA department, and then be expected to pay $40 to ship it to them because they failed to test. That would be on top of me wasting my time and the camera shops time buying and returning a 50 1.8g lens (I called it bad needing a +18 focus adjustment), and also renting another lens at my expense. The focus was way off... they obviously do not test these things at all.

2. Nikon USA's repair facilities have a spotty reputation. I saw dealing with them as a risk I didn't need to take, and a potential exercise in frustration. Their latest maneuver of shutting out independent repair shops and inconveniencing consumers tells me they have a bad attitude that originates from the very top of Nikon USA.
