You mean 12-50. Even in the kit the 12-50 can be up to $100 more than buying a 14-45.

The weather sealing is a better argument, but if we're strictly talking about image quality, the 14-45 wins hands down.

As for the focal length, which is relevant, I'd say. It seems that some people view the difference between 14mm and 12mm as greater than others. I don't see them as significantly different, but if that's something that matters to the OP, then that's fine.
