RAM, CPU for Photoshop CS5 - What are YOU using?
Apr 9, 2012

Very few (2 since last week) responses on PC forum, so will try here…
Goal : Collect data from folks who "have been there/are doing that" to help component decision process.
My situation : Planning for a new PC build - Win/7 (64), Photoshop CS5
Need HELP deciding :
Which CPU to choose
How much RAM
Typical Photoshop use for me :
3-4 (400MB-900MB) images open concurrently. Also do a fair amount of PS-action based batch processing (100-200 images/run).
No 3D
Video editing: Perhaps in the future, but not at the moment.
Not a gamer.

QUESTIONS FOR
WIN/7 (64)
Photoshop Users:
[any info you have time to provide greatly appreciated]
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
What processor do you have? (If you could replace it, with what?)
How much RAM do you have installed? (How did you decide on this amount?)
Would you add more RAM if you could? (If yes, how much?)
Do you have an SSD installed? (details, please, if you do - brand, size, etc.).
Under what circumstances (any, not just PS) can you envision one needing more than 8 GB of RAM for a Win 7/64 system?
Other build suggestions, e.g., internal hard drive selection, graphics card or whatever wisdom you care to share.
If you have time describe your typical use of Photoshop.
Thanks in advance.
