OMD EM-5 Pro Tips
Okay, so some people have been using this camera for a little over a week now. Let's share some of the things you have discovered with it. Tips of how to use it, things you have noticed, etc...
First one from me: Touch Screen Focus
You can set the touch screen to work as a focus selector. The default is to take a shot when you touch the screen, but I prefer to set it to the next mode which lets you compose the shot in the screen, then touch the point you want the focus to be, and then you can use that framing with the shutter button to half press focus and take the shot.
Very convenient and intuitive IMO.
I love this feature on my EP3, but also use the touch shutter about 50% of the time because I get less camera shake than using the shutter button.
I would like to see this taken to the next level and allow the touchscreen to move the focus point while viewing through the viewfinder, much like using a mouse-pad on a laptop.
I have also seen in other threads some people suggest to turn on the SCP (super control panel). That is a matter of preference, but most people like it (I am still undecided). It is worth noting however, that for it to work, you not only have to turn SCP ON, but also the Live Control OFF. (if you don't set it off, then SCP will not display even if it is set to on)
I could be wrong, but I think when you turn on SCP then it simply becomes an option to choose from when you hit the OK button. If, when you hit the OK button, you still see the standard screen then press Info to switch between screens until you get the SCP.
