LOL about the 100,000 ton monopod. We do enjoy light moments at sea once in a while. Here's a photo of our government approved "beer garden" during a "Steel Beach" picnic last year in the Indian Ocean as we were returning home from deployment.

The ship's photographers were quite intrigued by the 2.7X crop factor. When mated with the Nikkor 600 mm f/4 VR II + 2X teleconverter, the V1 becomes a stabilized 3240 mm f/8 -- a very compelling imaging system to check out distant vessels in the open sea.
