Personally I think the lens makes the biggest difference here.

As long as the quality of light is good enough to show those differences of course.

Though if you subscribe to the Louis Dobson line of thought most sensors are 'good enough' at base iso and if you're shooting very high ISOs then there's not much light to show up the differences.

I think you're right that the examples will come along
