Questions about supposed downsides of SLT cameras
Apr 7, 2012

Hi guys i'm looking at buying from the sony alpha range and saw a few detractors on a forum giving them the thumbs down.

I was hoping some of you knowledgeable folk here could counter these arguments and thus make me more comfortable buying one...

The comments are below.....

“Sony uses a semi-translucent mirror which does not flip up. This means it's bouncing about 1/3 of the light out of the image path -- whereas Canon & Nikon swing the mirror out of the image path so that all available light is delivered to the sensor. The camera can compensate by over-driving ISO, but this would result in more noise. The camera can then compensate for noise by smoothing the image, but this will cause a slight loss in detail.”

"EVF exhibits some delay/lag in low light situations, as the camera needs to gather enough light before it could display on the EVF"
