Video will take over still - its just a matter of time.
Might take another 10 to 15 years though.

When 5K video becomes the standard you'll have 30 pictures per second rolling out of your camera.... All those pictures are 15 Megapixel in size - that will suit most photographers and videographers alike.

This misconception drives me crazy. For natural motion, video needs to be shot at slow shutter speeds. Where our eyes see blur, the camera needs to see blur as well.

At 30 frames per second, your ideal shutter speed would be 1/60th of a second. At 24 frames, you need to shoot at a 48th. So if anything moves and you extract a still, it will be blurry. This is why major motion pictures have a photographer on set, to shoot the photos properly.

If you shoot video properly, the stills will be soft when anything moves. If you shoot video at a fast enough shutter speed to acquire good stills, the video will be choppy.

You need to choose what the final use of image will be, stills or motion, before you start shooting.

All FPS info (motion to still) appreciated as I did not know. Have been a working still photographer for many years. So much to learn about video.
Chris, the youtube site has a very nice Canon/Nikon comparison with Nathan.
Cheers,
