Monitors for photo editing

I've been using the same piece of crap LG monitor (low-end; can't recall the exact model number) for about 6 years now, and have been thinking about upgrading to something more suitable for photo editing. I was wondering if anyone could make any recommendations in that regard.

I've heard very good things about the Asus PA238Q 23”, but have also heard that it suffers from backlight bleed issues.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
