It might be different with Amazon Japan. In the U.S. I just fill out a quick online form and indicate that the unit is faulty, then send it back. I had a faulty 620 and they sent out a new body well before I had packed up and returned the old one. With the OM-D orders backed up they likely won't give that option, and you'll just get credited and have to re-buy.

Sending it to Oly is not a bad idea. They are usually quick, and might even just replace your unit. But you might get a "normal operating parameters" response.

Just remember that from all the tests we've read so far, the IS is supposed to "work really well," not be worse than the EP3. To me that indicates a faulty unit.
