Well, you nailed it, if you add price considerations.

I went from 35mm to aps-c and hated peeping through the keyhole every time. But even then when the 5D came along I waited quite some time before going for it.

Now I have a 2 5D's and plenty of L glass, but haven't gone for the higher resolution stuff, simply because the 5D covers my professional needs nicely (I shoot mainly wedding and portrait, no sports or birds at all).

As for my personal work, I use MF on film, 4x4 and 5x7 on film, and just purchased an 8x10 to investigate alt processes...
