In the event one needs to have more pictures for final editing and capability to shoot at more difficult situation, I would say D800 a better choice. But if one can allow time to carefully produce an image, Pentax is certainly to have an edge.

And that's why most of the photographers I knew that use medium format digital backs (me included), all have a Canon or Nikon for situations they are required.

Hi Pro Landscape/Archi photographers,

Today Nikon D800 was tested compared to most other cameras including the Pentax 645D and it showed very close resolution(not match) to the Pentax.

How practical replacing the Pentax package or similar from other DMF systems and go with the Nikon package? the zooms and the smaller faster Nikon is tempting

i have the 645D with 5 very sharp lenses ( FA 35, FA45-85, FA80-160, FA120 macro, FA300 5.6) = total cost was $16,000, had it for 7 months now.

thinking of the Nikon D800/E with 24-70 2.8 VR, 70-200 2.8 VR II, = $7,500

  • i already have the Nikon 14-24 2.8

the Pentax can print nicely at 30"X40".

thank you for your thoughts.
