With all the shortages maybe most of these big name shops are holding onto them so they can squeeze more money from consumers once the price increase comes bout?

It boggles my mind that many have pre-ordered minutes after release from the popular camera stores and still haven't received anything, yet people have just walked right into Best Buy and bought it.

Well, I think that those who have paid a deposit will have a firm price quoted and therefore the shops will have to honour that price, not a future hiked price. I have paid a deposit and the price is firm.

Yes but they probably know most enthusiast/professional won't want to wait and would ask for a refund? Than they have one less pre-order they can sell once the price hike?
