Macintosh and SPP 5.2.1

The thing that annoys me the most with lion is that when you view a folder as icons or, thumbnails in widows speak. Is that the slider down the bottom right to adjust the size of the icons(thumbnails) is gone and you have to go into the folder properties to adjust it.
If any one knows how to get this back it would be great
