Camera just stopped working

Brand newby to this site....... My son wanted to save money so brought a EOS 600D from a reputable camera company in Hong Kong on Ebay... (can just see most of you rolling your eyes It worked for about half a day then just stopped. Camera was warm as was the battery. Camera wont start up again even when a new battery from a camera store was tried. We are able to send it back under warranty but just wondered has anyone come across this fault before?????
