Also, in passing, I've been asked by a client to dig out a mail to us from many years ago that has long since been deleted from the database and the backups. It SHOULD be on a log from an exchange DB on a long since de-commissioned and broken up server.

That's has meant rooting around the house for dead hard disks - the occasional one of which is not dead. So far I've found 27.

And when you think about it, keeping the heads skating above the surface of a spinning disk is remarkably like IBIS.

I'm not suggesting that the IBIS is likely to fail. But it is a complex electro-mechanical system and a clear and obvious failure point. Anyone who doesn't need IBIS (and I don't) would rather not have it.

In the meantime perhaps you'd like to delete all your backups, remove any RAID arrangements you might have, and keep all your photos on one hard disk? I'm guessing not
