It's little wonder they're making headway into the DSLR market.

Given the quality (lack thereof) in Canon's lowest range DSLR and the base kit lenses it is little wonder the lower end of the DSLR market will give way to mirrorless inter-changeable lens units rather quickly. I suspect Nikon won't be much different with the DXXXX range and it's base kit lenses.

It has given customers who wanted to try out DSLR a very poor experience. I picked up a canon plastic kit lens for a few dollars to play with reverse mount macro photography and just for curiosity tried it in normal use. I was horrified as to just how bad an image it produced. Any of the G range shoot it to pieces.

In the immediate future I certainly hope Canon phase the 1XXXXD range and the base kit lenses out in exchange for something like the G series with interchangeable lens and don't just put mirrorless technology into the 1XXXXD body as it won't solve the lens problems.
