Formatting Memory Cards

How long does it take for the D800 to format memory cards? I have purchased Nikon's recommended CF and SDHC cards, but it is taking a very long time to format in camera. I have not gotten an error reading, it just keeps blinking For over and over for at least five minutes.
Just curious as to how long everyone else's camera have taken to format.
