I agree with everything Don Christie said. I keep the 18-55 and have switched to it occasionally when I want the camera to be more compact and lighter. However, if money is tight, that option is a luxury that could painlessly be sacrificed.

One other point -- There is still a bug with Tamron and the panorama mode. Though I use it infrequently, I would need to put the Sony back on for pano's. Supposedly a fix is on the way, so that would not be needed.

96.5% of the time, the Tamron is on NEX-5n. This will change soon, as I am planning to get one of the fast primes, though the Tammy will still be my normal walk-around lens.
