Nice to be sane again
I woudn't have been using Canon if I hadn't found it to be a good choice - until the 5D3. In what sense I'm a Nikon fanboy, I'd be the first one to find any excuse to continue on the Canon platform, but this time I failed to found that motivation.
My, yeah, for my shooting preferences I see nothing in the Canon lineup. Good if it works for many, but not for me.
The choice of the criterias-features might be subjective, but those chosed ones are objectively better - more resolution, better DR. On top of that, I still get decent AF and for my usage good quality high ISO, even better compared to the 5D2 I have now. I have almost never used continious mode, I couldn't care less about the speed. And yet it is not much different.
Btw. I was just an hour ago in a photo shop where the price of the 5D3 was exactly the same as the D800 (the latter having initial normal price not a higher one). I still couldn't convince myself to favor Canon.
Looks to me it is also heavy arrogancy in the Canon forum not to accept that for certain users the 5D3 might not be the good choice. Definitely not for me.
Not EVERYBODY needs very high ISO. Do yourself a favor and look what is your average image shot at. Mines are between ISO200-400.
Lurked around the D800 forum and nothing really much going on over there. Not too many people are enthused about the D800 unlike people with the 5DIII here. I also noticed the comments are more civilized about the 5DIII and aren't as harsh as the Nikon fanboys over here and some are complaining about the viewfinder of the D800's having a weird tint. Looks like the 5DIII has more satisfied users due to more positive postings. Keep on shooting!
