Progress not worth talking about, specially because pixel count has stayed the same.
dpreviews own studio samples are speaking the same language.
So: Same resolution, roughly same noise performance in RAW, much higher price for better AF = stagantion.
Would it have come at the same price as the 5d2, it would have been a real deal. Like that, no thank you Canon. I am dissappointed and keep my 5d2.

I would say that it is something worth talking about. I personally don't care about pixel count and the ISO from the 5D2 to the 5D3 improved more than the D700 to the D800. If the 5D3 has a DxOmark score of around 2600-2800 or so which would be about half a stop, that's a much larger improvement than the D700 to the D800.
The D700 was ahead of the 5D2 by about half a stop and to have caught up in 1 generation is not bad at all.
Caught up to a camera that was introduced in 2008. What are you saying?
