Upgrade to Nikon D800E from a Nikon D300S...opinions?

Is this a worthy upgrade for an advanced amateur? While I am not disappointed with the 300S, I am very interested in the full-frame sensor and the high-resolution images for my landscape and macro photography. Am I at the point where the law of diminishing returns starts to take effect?
