D800 is not a general-purpose camera:

No he never said that and that's not true either. Higher MP will always give you better image quality. What he meant is photographer's technique becomes more important when you shoot those higher resolution cameras. The sensor resolution will be less of the weak link while the photographer's technique becomes more so.
