S/D cards

I just bought a Nikon 5100 from a very reliable camera shop.
They sold me a Delkin Pro sercure digital Class 10, 4gb s/d card.

There are so many brands and sizes of s/d cards out there.
How is a person suppose to know which one is the best and which size to get?

Any and all info will be greatly appreciated.
