D4 - 500mm VR and Birds in Flight

Took the D4 out today to shoot some birds. The conditions were very tough with complete overcast and bright haze. I tried all the focus modes and found just as I did with my D3 that the auto and 3D were too tough to use if there is anything in the background. It simply didn't track on the birds like it does with the 51 or 21 point.

The camera is great and fast in every way. The exposure compensation rolls the opposite way I am used to with my D3 and when I turn it clockwise it goes negative instead of the positive I am used to. I am sure there is a setting for that but I haven't found it yet.

Here are some shots, I think all are at iso1000. Not much sharpening. All in all, this camera is everything we were hoping for.
