Leica M9P or Canon 5D Mark III?

you really should rent a M9 for one weekend to try it out - after that weekend you will either love or hate it :). The 5D certainly will be more flexible and automatic, it just has one drawback: size and weight. A M9 with 3 lenses will be smaller and lighter than the 5D with only one f/2.8 zoom. You should check that you can actually carry your dream 5D kit.

Another alternative would be to start with a nice µ4/3rds or NEX kit and add a few Leica lenses to it...
