Fixed the "non-Buyer's Remorse...Got a D4 30 mins ago
Mar 24, 2012

I had almost convinced myself myself that there's no way that I, an amateur, who never made a dime with photography (not counting some prize money I got for winning a few photo contests), should get a D4, and should just stay happy with my D3.

But, as I started reading these forums, I started to get a twinge of "non-buyer's" remorse:

I was starting to find all the joyful posts,"I've got a D4 on order", I'm on the list for a D800", etc., etc., mildly repetitive and annoying, and quietly patted myself on the back for not being part of that crowd...until today.....

I actually had cast the idea of getting a new camera body out the window until today when my local camera guy phoned me up, "Hey, I think I'll be getting some d800's in this week and I saved one for you".

Crap....I had had a bad week.

My daughter had emergent gallbladder surgery (doing great now), I had planned on attending a once a year conference next week, but had that plan squashed by my work schedule, my father also had surgery this week (also doing OK), and without going into details, had a few other things go South on me this week....

Also, I have a trip planned overseas and was lamenting that a D3s was going to cost $600 to rent for two weeks as a back up camera.

So, after work today, I thought, "What the heck, I haven't dropped by the local camera store for awhile, I'll drop by a maybe say , 'Hi' and think about that D800."

So, I go in, walk up the the counter, and there, on the shelf , is a D4 box.
"Oh, no".

The Dealer had just started carrying Nikon a few weeks ago. I didn't expect a D4 to be there.

So now I've got a D4.

After I return from trip, I'll think about selling the D3, but I'm not sure that I'll want to part with it.

This is probably one of the more meaningless posts I've done in a while.......

Hopefully I'll have something of substance to contribute once I start get to get acquainted with my new camera

Best Regards,
