A second small camera for events

I thought about D700 but I am thinking a decent small camera will help with the weight issue and also I can use it for my travel. For sure, I dont want to carry around a huge dslr.

Moreover, most of the time the pictures dont get printed, it is only for webview with occasional printing up to 11x14. I just need something a little wide, fast lens and good iso capabilities.
