Recommendations? Is the Zeiss lens and the added aperture worth the extra money? I have an opportunity to buy the Zeiss for 1200 bucks (USD) or the f2.8 for 250 brand new.
I am getting into portrait photography and my current kit consists of the A77, Minolta 50/1.7, Sony 70-300G, and the 16-50/2.8 'kit' lens. I would like the speed of either of these, but am wondering if I will ever need the extra speed of the Zeiss, seeing as I have the 50mm prime that I use indoors, or even the wide end of the 16-50/2.8 when needed.
What say all of you? Worth the price increase and why?
Not for me

Indoor/short distance f1.4 or f2.0 will give you almost no dof, you'll more likely use 2.8 anyway. Outdoors f2.8 is ok.
