D800 : can you "force" a lens into DX mode ?

Hi Gents,

i understand that the D800 (and other Nikon FX cameras ?) automatically detects DX lenses and shifts to DX mode...bt what about FX lenses ? Is is possible to use an FX lens in DX mode to get the benefit of the 1.5x factor ?
