GH2 + 100-300mm for birding?

I'm a beginning birder and wanted to downsize my kit. I have a OM-D on pre-order, and I was thinking of getting the Panny 100-300mm as a birding lens. I just found a gently used GH2 package that includes the 14-150mm and the 100-300mm at a very good price. Certainly much less than the OM-D with grip!
This seems like an ideal combination both as a travel camera and for casual birding. So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this combo for casual birding? I'm not trying to be a pro here, just something I can comfortably take with me on my travels.
Thanks for your insights.
