S100 lens error
Mar 23, 2012

The lens of my S100 suddenly could not retract back and got stuck in its extended shooting position. A message displayed on the LCD said that it was a lens error. However, if I press the display button, the lens could retract back. When in shooting mode, the same problem occurred again.

I took to the Canon shop for repair. Canon completed the work within the promised 5-day period.

When I went to pick up the S100 from the Canon shop, I met another customer there carrying a S100 in for repair. I asked him what his problem was. I found that he had exactly the same problem as mine. This shocked me quite a bit.
The remark in my repair record indicated that the optical unit was replaced.

I bought mine in mid December last year in Hong Kong and the serial number is 328130001XXX (XXX are three hidden digits here). I should have asked him what his serial number was to see if we were in the same batch of production.
I wonder whether any one has encountered the same problem.
