Defrag SD cards to speed up save time?

I read an article about SD card speeds that said that defragmenting SD cards can help speed up older cards that have been rewritten multiple times. Having just ordered a new Z990 and hearing the stories of slow picture saving, has anyone noticed a difference by doing this?

And by the way, I'm still keeping my Z8612...it's too good to give up!
