One more question for you. I probably should have mentioned this at first. I use a laptop for all this. The monitor is connected to the laptop using an hdmi cable. The spyder plugs into the laptop and the scanner portion is on the monitor. I am not sure this is actually accomplishing much. What is the best way to go about this?
That should be fine. The laptop is using a port on a video card just as would any computer. So once you have the monitor pre-calibrated, the mechanism should be the same. The Spyder knows that it is controlling the external monitor because it puts a pattern there for you to use as the location for the Spyder colorimeter.
Should work fine.
