There is a new HyperDrive product you might want to look at called CloudFTP. It is a very small and light weight $99 device that connects to any external USB flash or hard drive. It acts as a wireless access point, and has an embedded FTP server. You can use apps such as FTP Client Pro or PhotoSync to move images from your iPad to the attached drive. It also has an embedded web server that allow Safari on your iPad to view photo, audio, or video files stored on the drive.

Be warned that is is a brand new device. HyperDrive is quoting delivery times of 4 to 6 weeks. There is a user from at that describes many problems seen by early adopters of this product. But once HyperDrive gets the bugs out, CloudFTP could be a good solution to your problem.

I already have a Hyperdrive, 500 GB, but it is a real brick so I don't use it except with auto travel shoots!
