Any reason not to get the 80-200mm 2.8 AF-D

I've been doing a little bit of portraiture with my Nikon D90, and have mostly been using my 35 + 50mm f/1.8 as well as the 55-200 or 70-300 VR lenses. I was looking for a little bit more background control/blurring so I started looking at some of the 70-200 and 80-200 lenses. It seems to me that if you're just looking for good optics, the 80-200 f/2.8 AF-D is the best bang for the buck right now. It can be had for around $1K new and less than that used. Is there a reason not to get this lens and instead go for the higher priced AF-S or 70-200 lenses?

Thanks,

M
