wow there's some superb concert photos there ... those shots aren't easy with any camera - and these are great for a P&S to my eyes/screen - kudos to the shooter (and the X10)
Hi Photofreak7,
Yes, 1st picture is really not bad for iso1000, 1/125s, f2.8 and at 24.6mm (almost tele end). Good enough for housewife and non-housewife types of concerts
1/125 is prob enough for 'subtle' movement here but he could even shoot at 3200 (if need be) and with decent processing could get good results - beyond that your in DSLR/fast lens territory or shooting the G1X at ISO12800 @f/5.8

The lens isn't really faster when you look at the x10's tiny sensor. No way it would work for me to get high enough shutter speeds to freeze action during concerts.

Canon's response sounds very similar to Fuji's original x10 response.
well at least Fuji is doing something about it. Looks like for $200 less the X10 is the better choice IMO - faster lens, focusing, etc.., - the only advantage is the G1X sensor size.
We submitted our sample images to Canon and they confirmed the issue, calling it "Glow Dots," and saying that it will likely affect all PowerShot G1 X units. Canon further says, "Due to the limited circumstances under which the PowerShot G1X 'Glow Dots' phenomenon can occur, Canon does not plan to change the camera's specifications or offer repair service for this issue."
for $799 this camera should come with a Canon repair tech
