When the D2X, with 20MB RAW files, was released in 2005, the largest hard drive was 500GB (according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_hard_disk_drives ).
We are now in 2012 where 4TB (4000GB) hard drives are available. That's 8x the size from 2005. The D800 RAW files are only 3-4x the size of the RAW files from the D2X...so we should be able to fit twice the number of RAW files today onto 1 hard drive compared to 2005 during the D2X era.
I don't remember all this grumbling about RAW files being too big and hard drives being too small in 2005.
Am I missing something?
