JPEG workflow (same as RAW?)
Mar 22, 2012

I posted this in the Sony forum , but now it seems more a Photoshop workflow issue...

I should know this, but well, I don't. After 3-4 years of using Pentax and now Nikon DSLRs, and shooting only in RAW, the Sony HX9V is my first pocket camera. I'm not sure how to process jpeg images.

My DSLR workflow is RAW > Bridge > capture editing > Photoshop CS4 > crop & output editing and save as psd file. I've never upscaled anything, always worked from larger to smaller and everything stayed in 300ppi.

Using that post-processing software I'm looking for any guidance on improving the best-so-far workflow I've come up with:

1. JPEG > Bridge > Camera RAW at full size (16MB @ 72ppi).

2. Edit > Open in Photoshop using 8-bit 240ppi > then reduce dimensions or crop, edit, sharpen > save at maximum quality (12) for prints

And if I want to email/post on the web, reduce to 96ppi and reduce dimensions to around 700x500 pixels.

There must be hundreds of ways to go on this, but I'd appreciate any input on what works best for them. Thanks...
