Lightroom 4 Auto vs. Lightroom 3 Auto

This is a bit premature as I don't have 100% proof yet, but yesterday I pulled up Lightroom 4 for the first time and as I typically do with new raw images, I click on lens calibration and then Auto.
In Lightroom 3, this typically gives me fairly pleasing results. In 4 however, every image I threw at it was very washed out.
This evening I was going to collect examples as I still have Lightroom 3 on my desktop, but thought I'd start this now and see if its something normal or not. I know that they have a new processing engine in 4, so I'm assuming that's it, but the results I got were quite horrid!
...and yes - I know that clicking Auto is not the way to go and will never make an image perfect, but for a beginner like me, it has always been a nice starting point in Lightroom 3. Just doesn't seem to be giving the same results in 4.
